Vijay Singh when afforded an opportunity to explain the improved performance of his charge ch g HUNTSMAN (Suraj Narredu) as compared to its previous outing in Race No. 59 `The Areonative Handicap` run on 13th January, 2021, stated that `according to me the day the horse ran on the first day of the winter season he ran a poor race and I immediately had him gelded. After that I ran him in a 1400 metres race and declared Jockey Suraj Narredu where he ran 4th. The owners were of the opinion that he is a more of a sprinting horse and requested me to run him in a 1100 metres race and claim 4 kgs allowance with my Apprentice Hasib Alam. The horse could not pace with the field and ran last. The owners wanted me to get rid of the horse. I requested them to give me a last chance of running him over a mile and above race since I had trained his dam AMORINA who did well over long distances. I found a race in his class over a mile and decided to run him here and declared Jockey Suraj Narredu and run him in the same customary manner in which his mother ran by going to the front. I was glad to see him win and give me the satisfaction that he would better off over longer distance`. The Stipendiary Steward while noting his explanation, advised Tr. Vijay Singh to ensure that his charges run with a degree of consistency. Further, he was advised that now that he is satisfied that a longer distance is suited for HUNTSMAN, the gelding should be run over distances more to his liking. |
