Glorious MissAt the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards` Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being that in the final 200 metres, GLORIOUS MISS (S.A. De Sousa, placed first) shifted out under use of the whip and hampered HICKORY(Daniel M.Grant) and thereafter when Jockey S.A.De Sousa changed his whip hand, the filly shifted in and Jockey S.A.De Sousa persisted to use the whip as a result his mount further shifted in and caused severe interference to OPPORTUNITY (C.S.Jodha) who was making his move along the rails. After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided that no change in the order of placing was called for. The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey S.A.De Sousa along with his Spokesman, Mr.Marthand Mahindra and having heard the submissions made and viewing the video tape recording of Race No.63 as also the previous race of GLORIOUS MISS i.e. Race No.3, the Stewards were not fully satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.A.De Sousa and held him guilty of careless riding on his mount GLORIOUS MISS in the above race.
