Shezad Abbas trained Golden Phantom rallied well to get the better of front running Chocolate Solider and then held off the late bid by Rainbow In The Sky to win the 1600 metres Smt Teegala Sulochana Reddy Memorial Cup, a Category II race, the main event of races held at Malakpet on Monday. The last three races of the day were claimed by trainer Shezad Abbas.
Trainer Donald Netto who is currently leading the table saddled three winners and took his lead over Vittal Deshmukh to an unassailable 10 points and with the season set to conclude at the end of the month, he appears almost certain to win the title. Imran Khan has now come close to challenging to Pradeep Chouhan as he booted home four winners.

The race appeared to have an open look about it but it was Golden Phantom and Rainbow In The Sky who were more preferred than the rest. Chocolate Solider went on a start to finish mission even as there was jostle at the start when Golden Phantom and Symbol of Victory made contact but nothing untoward happened. Chocolate Solider was challenged strongly in the straight by Golden Phantom and Rainbow In The Sky even as Alastor dropped out of the reckoning after being an arm`s length of the front runner well into the straight. Golden Phantom measured Chocolate Solider inside the final 100 metres and was well in control of the proceedings when Rainbow In The Sky showed some aggression towards the finish.
With the division of the races done in a way as to distribute good horses to each of the divisions, often the same trainer ends up winning both the divisions. Shezad Abbas saddled the winners of both the divisions of Sir Bruce Plate, a Category II race. All Pepper won the upper division of the race with a start to finish mission easily keeping the challenge of Naughty Gal at a safe distance, stretching away from the rest in the final furlong. The well performed Aphrodisiac hadn`t won for quite some time but given his past performance he was too good to remain without a win. He had a modest lot of horses to take on in the lower division and he came through with a powerful stretch run to measure the front running Bound For Glory and Prince Paladin to win with ease to justify strong favouritism.
The first two races of the day, the Elusive Pimpernel Plate, run in two divisions, were won by the trainer jockey combination of Anupam Sharma and Carlos Henrique. Mukhtar proved to be very superior to the field in the six furlong race for horses in the lowest category, winning from Hard Hit and Victory Sky. Symbol of Honour measured Incredible India with a powerful dash in the final furlong in the lower division of the race.
An An An was the on money favourite in the 1100 metres Mount Everest Plate, a race for maiden three year olds. The favourite went in chase of victory right from the word `go` and very nearly succeeded. Ancillary was hanging in badly but jockey Nilesh Rawal managed to get the desired response in the final strides of the race to get the nod in his favour.
Nilesh however was found wanting on Aerosmith on whom he failed to pack punch in the 1600 metres Fire Haven Cup and the son of Rebuttal lost a race he should won by a head to Chal Bhai Chal. Favourite Ashwa Shakti led the field into the straight but weakened leaving Chal Bhai Chal who was held up briefly along the rails and Aerosmith who took the turn six deep to fight out for honours. Aerosmith appeared to be traveling better but jockey Imran Khan managed to pack punch on the lesser fancied runners and managed to snatch victory.
Jockey Deep Shankar induced vigour in his efforts as Gold Medal managed to get the better of long time front runner Our Mascot in sight of the winning post in the 1200 metres Chilli Girl Plate. Skander too finished with a flourish to snatch the runner up berth from Our Mascot. Favourite Exclusive was not in the hunt.
Jockey Imran Khan, who is sure to make the jockeys` championship go to the fire, drove out Lady Luck to a narrow win in the 1200 metres Jockey Laxman Memorial Cup, a Category III race. After racing prominently in front, Lady Luck fell back but managed to improve places at the final bend and quickened for home inside the final furlong. Golden Dash came home with a big run but fell excruciatingly short.
