Anupam Sharma trained Energetic Lass caused the biggest upset of recent times when the four year old trounced the opposition in the 2200 metres Bhagyanagar Cup, a Category III race, one of the cup event of races held at Malakpet on Sunday. A five rupee bet on tote yielded a return of over 200 to 1! Favourite Enigma lived up to her name.

Cheyenne (ex Riverdale) led the field all the way as the rest of the runners were spaced out behind in single file with Energetic Lass in a handy third or fourth position while the fancied Enigma was in the rear group along with Symbol of Beauty who was ridden by stable`s first jockey Carlos Henrique. Rounding the final, turn, Cheyenne held the lead till overhauled by Energetic Lass who then bounced clear and kept on expanding the lead to check in by a margin of over six lengths. Vijays Victory finished third behind the long time leader.

In a tight finish, Prasad Raju trained Strides of Glory managed to stave off the late bid of Any Given Time to claim the Red Orchid Plate (Div I), a Category II race over seven furlongs. Wind And Enjoy led the way but in the final stages of the race, three runners flashed with a flourish but in the end, Strides of Glory had just about got the nod from Any Given Time, Azaiba and long time front runner. Vittal Deshmukh`s Winjoy had no problem in winning the lower division of the race with a powerful run in the final furlong. Street Magic who led till then weakened in the closing stages of the race and was pipped at the post by Prince of Arabia for the runner up berth.

Satheesh trained Modern Sniper left the field stranded in the 1200 metres Soviet Star Plate, a race for maiden two year olds. After tracking the front running Save The Nation into the straight, Modern Sniper easily cruised past the leader to win pulling up. The progeny of Noverre showed plenty of speed to win in solitary splendor.

Favourite Winds And Waves took his own time to warm up in the straight but he did so, the front running duo of Mount Titlis and Golden Fathom appeared flat footed. Winds And Weaves won the day`s opener, the Trade Fair Plate, a Category III race with great deal of ease.

Laxman Singh trained Killer Instinct swamped the opposition with an aggressive run from behind which took him past the front runners with minimum of effort in the 1600 metres Brave Dancer Plate (Div I), a Category III race. Nirvana made a futile attempt to match strides but found the eventual winner too good and had to settle for second spot. Suraj Narredu drove out Most Impressive to get the better of Sharp Victor in the final strides of the race to claim the lower division of the race.

Apprentice jockey J Vikas drove out lesser fancied Sheridan with all the resources at his command to get the better of front running Pakat Pakat Pakat in the 1200 metres Hussain Sagar Cup (Div I), a Category III race. Favourite True Friend was not far behind. Srinivas Reddy`s Sweety Angel had no problem in winning the lower division of the race leaving her pursuer Symbol of Honour stranded behind.
