Racing in Delhi was, perhaps, unprecedented in the country. All winners of the six race card led from the word go so to say and stayed right there. Surely, no racing day has been played out like this, let alone been scripted.

Whether the quality of riders was poor, whether the horses could not catch up, or whether the connections adopted safety first tactics and gave no chance vary of traffic problems or otherwise, the fact remained that every winner made, virtually, every post a winning one.

Neivasha (Dhanu Singh), Cosmic Field (Pawan Sharma), Super Select (Kavraj Singh), Save Your Money (Shafeeq Ahmed), Abdullah (Dilip Singh), Master Tiger (C S Jodha). Well, all these horses and their riders had two things in common. First, all of them were winners of their respective events. Second, all of them made virtual and successful start to finish efforts. If you had backed them, all you had to do was to sand
in the queue to encash the moment they took charge of the field.

Neivasha (at Evens and less) started the trend when claiming the Reasonable Plate over a scurry for horses rated 20 to 46. The ELJOHAR(IRE) - BON APETIT kept Master Faster a good five lengths and more behind with Self Assurance a close third. Ajay Sharma trains the winner.

Cosmic Field (at Evens and less) then staged a similar effort to win the lower division of the White Crown Plate over 1400 metres for horses rated 20 to 46. Fire On Ice led very briefly but once Cosmic Field burst through the middle, the SEDGEFIELD(USA) - COSMIC FLASH progeny trained by Magan Singh
proved to be far too good though Jashn E Jeet came within half a length of the winner before Cosmic Field got stronger and spared more than a length at the wire.

The upper division of the same race saw a smashing performance from the Odds-on favourite Super Select. The SEDGEFIELD(USA) - WINDERMERE STAR progeny gave Magan Singh a double as she simply smashed the daylight out of the opposition romping home almost eight lengths clear of Vinnie, her conqueror last time, and Hot Blood who was far behind third.

The feature event, the Lt Col Govind Singhji Memorial Cup over 1200 metres for Indian horses 3-years-old only, saw the 5 to 1 shot Save Your Money hit the front like a scalded cat. The Deepak Kalra ward by REBUTTAL(USA) - WAGGAMAMA, drifted to the centre of the track yet spared more than two lengths to Mister Sexy with Master Bale half a length behind in the money.

If these horses could do it, why not me? That`s what the speedy Abdullah (2 to 1) perhaps thought and virtually dragged Dilip Singh to the front as is his wont before holding on to win by a short head from stablemate Dancing Babe on whom Narain Singh rode a pathetic and clumsy finish but for which Abdullah might not have won. Master Agassi was third in the seven horse field in the Thaumaturk Plate over 1100 metres for horses rated 1 to 26.

Jockey C S Jodha had drawn a blank on his four earlier mounts. But astride Master Tiger (4 to 1) in the last race, the Jai Govind Plate over 1100 metres for horses rated 40 to 66, he dashed off the gates in a trice despite being drawn 9 in the 11-horse field and the ELJOHAR(IRE) - EYE IN THE SKY kept going to keep up the winning trend of the day. Goed Paard, the favourite, chased Master Tiger all the way but could not repeat his victory over Master Tiger this time and was more than a length adrift at the finish. The grey Master Star was a promising third ahead of Al Sahail.
