Brynhill has it easy in day’s feature

By: Frankel   April 5 , 2014

Nazak Chenoy trained Brynhill swamped the opposition in the 1200 metres Kailashpat Singhania Trophy, a race for horses rated 60 to 86, which featured Saturday`s races. Brynhill proved overwhelmingly superior while avenging his last start defeat in the hands of Sherlock Holmes. Zoom Zoom ran like a jaded horse and did not figure at the finish. Racing was run of the mill.
The speedy Pitbull did the pace setting as Brynhill was eased in about the third position. The favourite bridged the leeway on the front runner with minimum of effort in the straight and then went sailing clear to win from Sherlock Holmes. Monza came from a long way back to finish third. Zoom Zoom was in the penultimate position turning for home and did not make any progress in the straight.

The fact that Hunt For Heads for running over the seven furlong trip for the first time in his career perhaps may be the reason why the four year old was ignored in the betting ring in the 1400 metres R R Komandur Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 20 to 46. Hunt of Heads had finished not far from winner Cosmic Dancer over a five furlong trip last Sunday. Sumer Express was the one who was enthusiastically supported to improve on her fourth of previous effort. Jockey Ashish had Hunts for Head relaxed in the rear group as Emerald Fortune headed the field into the straight. Hunt for Heads cruised up on the wide outside and easily collared the front runners and was spotted a winner long way from home. Oriental Masti who was a bit lethargic at the start finished with purpose to be a notable second ahead of Rewarding Desire who perhaps could do better with a slightly longer trip.

Brinhill (N S Parmar up), winner of the Kailashpat Singhania Trophy, being led in by trainer Ms N B Chenoy

It was difficult to imagine how La Tonnarella couldn`t win in debut itself considering the ease with which she won the lower division of the Komandur Plate. La Tonnarella surely belongs to the highest class. Jockey Trevor Patel was not required to make any effort as the filly cantered her way to win by a widening margin of nine and half lengths in a smart timing of one minute 23.86 seconds which was nearly two seconds better than that clocked by the more experienced Head For Hunts. Bonobo ran on to finish second ahead of Ghanghorr. The winner should repeat whatever the penalty.

Nina Lalvani trained Sailor had won both his outings in such impressive fashion that a hat-trick was very much on cards in the 1600 metres Dr A H Sayed Plate, a race for horses rated 40 to 66. Sailor shook off Isadoro in the final furlong and comfortably staved off the late rally of top weighted Fortune Hunter to land the spoils as a well backed favourite.

Dallas Todywalla`s Athens was the betting rage in the 1800 metres J Robinson Plate, a race for maiden three year olds. But the favourite failed to keep a straight course and ended up on the outer rail which effectively hurt her chances of winning. Strawberry Crush was driven out to victory by Sandesh. Grenadine very nearly caught up with the eventual winner but fell short by a neck.

Antia trained Fajr had lost close home to Double Diamond in his last effort but was not backed confidently to make amends in the 1000 metre Jayant M Shah Plate, a race for horse in the lowest category in which class trainer Antia`s wards excel when the public is not prying on them. Fajr moved to the front from the wide outside draw and kept on expanding the lead in the straight to win in the manner of a better class horse. There was a three way finish for the second slot with Highway Express nosing out Princess Love and Good Memory in a tight finish.

Sanjay Kolse`s Ashrafie built on her good forward run by easily claiming the 1200 metres Narayandas J Dave Plate, a race for maiden three year olds with a start to finish mission. Ashrafie was not hard pressed to win from Divine Wish who held off Sanam for the second slot.
Trainer Antia who saddled a treble, had started the day with victory on Ice Rink who proved an exception to his pattern of training by winning the mile long Jehan Numa Plate, a race for horses in the lowest category. Ice Rink measured soul mate Run Like The Wind inside the final 100 metres to land the spoils as a well fancied runner. Adams Prince came up with a late charge to displace Run Like the wind from the runner up berth.
