No Doubt outsmarts the rest in Committee Cup

By: Stay Thirsty   November 26 , 2014

C V G K Kishore trained No Doubt produced a winning gallop inside the final furlong to collar the opposition in the 1600 metres Committee Cup, a race for horses rated 40 to 65, the feature event of Wednesday`s Mysore races. No Doubt who was once a rousing performer produced the form of old to claim the race easily from Society Music.

Malkia who had been re-located from Pune went to the post as the favourite but he she was not up to fulfilling the expectations as she raced flat in the straight to eventually finish a tame third. No Doubt who briskly improved places in the straight had the race in his control all the way in the final 200 metres with only Society Music showing some spark to finish second. Malkia managed to get the better of Cash Is King to gain the third place.

Kishore`s Rocketeer recorded an encore in the 1400 metres Pandavapura Plate, a race for horses rated 40 to 65 with hardly any opposition from the rest. Rocketeer improved places along the rails and luckily for the favourite the others runners from outside did not roll in. Rocketeer hit the front approaching the final bend and thereafter came along in solitary splendor. Anonymous managed to nose out Dance of General to get the runner up berth.

Lesser fancied Gelignite easily measured the front running Delta Delight and stormed clear to win the 1400 metres Bandipur Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 20 to 45. The lead established by Gelignite held him in good stead as Masteroftherolls came home with a big run only to miss the berth by a shade less than a length. Pune import Hallelujah readily justified the favouritism in the lower division of the race. Hallelujah, who raced a handy second into the straight, gradually got stronger and sailed away from the rest to win from Go Man Go and Friends Forever.

B K Narendra`s Spinning Chakram made a successful start to finish bid in the 1600 metres Treasure`s Nest Plate, a race for horses rated 60 and above. Favourite Royal Shaan chased the favourite throughout the race before weakening in the final furlong. Secret Missile came up with a late charge but it was clear that Spinning Chakram was in no mood to relent.

Earlier in the day, Narendra trained La Piperi proved overwhelmingly superior to the rest in the 1600 metres Sakleshpur Plate by easily overhauling the front running Supreme Strength before the final bend and sprinted away from the rest. Favourite Gaupo gave a futile chase which made no impression on the eventual winner who looked to be in pink of condition. Mountain Glory finished third without showing any appreciable improvement in the run of the mill efforts that he has been dishing out. Last start winner Natural Nine reared up when the start was given and lost considerable ground.

The day`s opener was won by favourite Windsor Park who had no issues in overtaking the front running Winning Desire and win the 1100 metres KRS Plate, a race for lowest category race, in taking style. Winning Desire who had her own share of supporters went on an aggressive start to finish bid but found the eventual too strong for comfort.
