Vivek Jain issues clarification with regard to tapes

By: A Correspondent   December 15 , 2014

Chairman of RWITC Vivek Jain has issued a clarification to clear the ``misgivings`` arising out of the leaked tapes which have been put up on YouTube. This year`s run up to the elections to the Managing Committee has generated unprecedented publicity in the media with no holds barred attack being the thrust of the campaign.

By Vivek Jain

Many of you have received an SMS directing you to a youtube link on the Bullseye matter, which has been mysteriously, but not unsurprisingly “leaked”, on the eve of the elections. Hence, the need to respond to clear any misgivings.

We all know the tapes have been in existence for months, and the contents known to those behind the leak, since a long time. Their public pronouncements made this obvious.

The handing over of the tapes shortly before the RWITC elections by a person who was acting as a facilitator between trainer C.D. Katrak and Mr. Ummed Singh, an alleged suspect in the “sabatoge”(and who was employed by Mr. K.N. Dhunjibhoy for 18 years, inspite of his been warned off by the RWITC) is most intriguing.

The so called “shocking revelations” by posting these secretly recorded tapes on Youtube and, handing it to the media and to racing websites, is clearly with the intention to create suspicion and with only one motive in mind – the RWITC elections.

It is obvious that my detractors are doing their best to draw me into the centre of this controversy with a vested interest. The tapes point to professional rivalry between trainer C.D. Katrak (Mr. K.N. Dhunjibhoy`s ex-trainer) and Mr. Pesi Shroff (Mr. K.N. Dhunjibhoy`s ex-jockey and present trainer). The timing and, the need to bring it to the attention of members on a matter that is under investigation, is another attempt to divert the attention from the affairs of the Club, and smacks of unbridled political propaganda.

If the arrow was indeed aimed at trainer Katrak, this could well have waited till after the elections, and after following due process. But by doing it now, the arrow is obviously and atleast for the time being, targeted elsewhere, but sadly the aim is wide off the mark and far from a“bullseye”.

There is no indication in the tapes of any attempt of framing by anybody in the management against any individual. Infact, by secretly recording conversations, it is clear that the opposite is true –attempting to frame persons in the management by those behind these recordings.
There is nothing on the tape to show that any of the Stewards is involved in anything illegal or wrong. The tapes show that there is a continuous bitter rivalry between trainer Katrak on the one hand, and Pesi Shroff and Mr. K.N. Dhunjibhoy on the other. The committee is not involved in this rivalry as is being mischievously suggested. If anyone wants to “strengthen our hands” in exposing illegalities, they are welcome, but that does not mean that we have instigated anybody or encouraged ANY wrongdoing and there is nothing on the tapes to prove otherwise!

The persons on the tape are known long time associates of Mr. K.N. Dhunjibhoy. They are all known as his people. There may be a fallout between them now but the present Stewards are not involved in that in any way, and there is nothing on the tape that shows that we have instigated Katrak or anyone else in any wrong doing.

The Police investigation is still ongoing, and therefore one has to wait for it to be concluded before deciding on the veracity of the tape, and the conclusions they reach.
The truth shall emerge as to the motivation behind all this continued madness at the Club, for in the end, truth does prevail, as always.
