Adjudicate storms home with 2000 Guineas

By: Goldie Boy   December 8 , 2018

Trainer James McKeown`s filly, Adjudicate (David Allan-up) changed the gear on the race track to beat the masculine power, lined up for the 1,600m Calcutta 2000 Guineas, on Saturday. It may be an under-statement to say that she beat them; in fact, she shamed them, to add the second, rather the more important of the two Calcutta Guineas in her kitty. The Multidiamensiona-Alvarita will now go to on join the Derby line-up, may be as a clear favourite, provided McKeown`s mentor, S. Padmanabhan, decides to skip the January 13 Mega event. The afternoon was otherwise ruled by the visiting jockey Sandesh Akhade, the only professional to have finished the day with a treble, a popular one.

Neither jockey Allan nor his 7/10 favourite filly, Adjudicate, did need to do anything special to hand a six-length defeat to trainer Bharath Singh`s always improving Eastern Star (Y. Srinath) as Vijay`s much talked about Shivansh, the 4/1 second chance in the betting, called it a day nearing the distance-post.

The results of the 1,200m Indian Gold Vase was scripted on the expected lines. Trainer Vikash Jaiswal`s Amorous Knight and Bharath`s Castlebridge were, once again, at the loggerheads up-front, ruining their own winning chances while the two fancied runners – Multitude (Neeraj) and Governor General (A. Sandesh) -- waited right behind to pounce on the early but tiring leaders. The inevitable happened nearing the distance post. Multitude took over the running soon after and went of to cash in on the revised terms advantage.

Vijay`s baby, Vallerysthal (Sandesh), won the 1,200m Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy in a very impressive manner. The Multidimensional-Romantique daughter was stationed in the mid-division as Aashay Doctor`s Sprinkler (Ranidan Singh) and Bharath`s Incendio (Dashrath) tested their hooves up-front. However, inside the final furlong, Vallerysthal came with an electrifying run, on the wide out to leave the field cold. Trainer McKeown`s Avellino (Hindu Singh), too, covered much ground along the inner rails to place a decent second.

Bharath`s Alldero (Dashrath) returned to winning ways after his brilliant treble, followed it by a training setback last winter, during the running of the St Leger. The Multidimensional-Allaire colt displayed some form against a potential opposition during the last monsoons but that had been the part of his recovery process.

In the 2,000m Eastern Command Cup, the well-bred colt displayed a bit of his old sparkle he beat the long time leader, also his stable-mate, Midnight Phantom, late Niaragua, close home.
