Ace Ace Ace overwhelms the opposition

By: Tippu Sultan   December 8 , 2019

Hilton Sequeira trained Ace Ace Ace overwhelmed the opposition in the 1200 metres T Chandrashekar Reddy Memorial Cup, a terms race for three-year-olds and over, the feature event of Sunday`s Hyderabad races. Favourites ruled the roost on a day when the winners virtually faced no worthwhile opposition.

Though Ace Ace Ace went to the post as a strong favourite, there was spirited betting on Titus who was once a rousing performer to bounce back to winning ways after a wait of 343 days but the five-year-old could not find the extra gear needed to make a difference to the outcome of the race. Amazing Response led from the start and held it till the final 300 metres. Ace Ace Ace who was handily positioned was then pushed to take over the running. Ace Ace Ace showed remarkable acceleration to go storming clear to win from the pacesetter. Titus showed some flourish but could only finish third as Amazing Response held on gamely.

Sequeira`s another ward Soviet Pride put it across favourite Victory Parade in the 1200 metres Raja Narasimha Rao Memorial Cup, a race for horses rated 40 to 65. Once again at the receiving end was Sequeira`s brother in law Netto whose ward Victory Parade was backed with great conviction to win. Yours Forever led till the final furlong and jockey Imran Khan appeared confident of overtaking the front-runner anytime he wished on the favourite. Victory Parade indeed measured the front-runner with 100 metres left in the race but was found inadequate when Soviet Pride came up with huge effort despite going wide under pressure. Yours Forever stayed on to take the third position.

Donald Netto trained Horus had no problem in winning the 1200 metres Crack Regiment Plate, a race for maiden two-year-olds as a heavily backed favourite. Queen Daenerys led from the start with Horus in the chase. The favourite easily tackled the front-runner in the stretch and went away for a comfortable win by a margin of three lengths. Queen Daenerys held off Cheltenham by a whisker to keep the runner-up berth.

Trainer Prasad Raju had two short-priced winners of both the divisions of Osman Sagar Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 20 to 45. Jockey N Rawal took Her Legacy on a start to finish mission and the favourite expanded the lead in the stretch to eventually win by a widening margin of four lengths. California Beauty took the second spot ahead of the late rallying Top Saga. Flamingo Fame was at a short price to oblige in the lower division of the race. Jockey Akshay Kumar had an arm-chair ride to victory on the favourite who tracked Aristocrats Charm well into the straight before detaching herself from the field to win more comfortably than the verdict suggested. Incredulous covered enormous ground in the final furlong to be a suggestive second ahead of the early pace-setter Aristocrats Charm.

The well-backed Diesis Dream ran out an easy winner of the 1400 metres Chaitanya Ratham Plate (Div I), a race for horses in the lowest category. Diesis Dream who had broken the winless sequence only this season recorded an encore tackling Negress Princess in the stretch and stormed clear in the final furlong to register her second win from 24 outings. Favourite Rhine was a tame second while the third-placed Dance All Night who edged out the long-time leader Negress Princess who was another eight-plus lengths adrift. Another D`Silva trainee Royal Avenger burst out of the pack in the final furlong to record an easy win in the lower division of the race. Khan Sahib nosed out Patron Saint to get the runner-up berth while the favourite Royal Dancer was a disappointing fourth.

Donald Netto trained Bayrd who hadn`t won for 845 days finally broke the jinx when coming from way off the pace despite hanging in to win the 1400 metres Indian Navy Rolling Challenge Trophy, a race for horses rated 20 to 45. Rutilant led comfortably in front with Vijay`s Empire in the chase while Bayrd was in about the sixth position and had many lengths to cover in the stretch. Bayrd weaved his way on the inside and Imran Khan was able to get the desired response. Bayrd managed to get the better of Rutilant close home. Vijay`s Empire kept the third position ahead of Wood Bridge.
