Chase Your Dreams pulls through in Juvenile Million

By: Tippu Sultan   December 19 , 2016

Laxman Singh trained Chase Your Dreams proved the better of the four horses that were in the fray for the 1200 metres Deccan Juvenile Million, a terms race for two-year-olds, the feature event of Monday`s races held at Malakpet. The progeny of Excellent Art led from the start and managed to stave off the late flourish of Amorous White quite capably.

Both Chase The Dreams and Amorous White had won their previous quite impressively, the latter favoured by the terms in that he was the winner of two races. Chase The Drams showed more speed from the gates as he led from the start with Amorous White in close proximity while Prince Caspian and Exclusive Strike raced some lengths behind. Chase The Dreams kept the lead quite comfortably though in the end, Amorous White found his rhythm but the favourite had enough cushion to pull through by a head. Prince Caspian was third while Exclusive Striker who was totally raw, was a distance behind in fourth position.

Prasad Raju trained Lady In Lace benefitted by the two race runs as she easily beat the opposition in the 1200 metres Silky Baby Plate, a race for two-year-old maidens. Wild Wings led the field into the straight before Lady In Lace who was in a handy position, bounced clear on turning for home. Lady In Lace stretched out for an easy win over Tootsie Roll who nosed out Zelus for the runner-up berth.

Trevor Patel who had a profitable day on Monday winning half of the races programmed for the day, drove out fancied Batur to contain the challenge of Mandy in the 1400 metres Pocharam Cup, a race for horses rated 26 t0 to 50. Mandy took over the running inside the final furlong but could not carry the lead to the post as Batur essayed a strong challenge, responded well to the urgings of jockey Trevor and overhauled the front-runner close home with a measure of comfort. Negress Pearl who had some leeway to cover on the battling duo in front, ran on to save place money.

The last race of the day in the small card of six events, saw Pretty Star who was running for the second time in her career, coming in for noticeable support in the betting. Man Of The Series who had won his last outing well, was the favourite to win the 1400 metres Cyndy Plate, a race for horses rated up to 30. Pretty Star however was withdrawn at the gates on veterinary grounds. Jem Star benefitted by taking the lead early as the cushion built held her in good stead as Man Of The Series finished on strongly only to miss the berth narrowly. Golden Phoenix ran on to finish third.

Leo D`Silva trained Dancing Leaf struck the form of old after 323 days. The stable had been going through a bad patch and since horses have dropped in scales, they seem to be in a better light. Dancing Leaf tracked the speedy Paprika well into the straight before storming clear to win by a margin of four lengths. Dream Girl failed to make any impression and was a beaten cause well before the race came on the boil. Dream Vision ran on from behind to take the second place ahead of favourite Dream Girl.

Trevor also drove out Alameda to win after 426 days. Western Wind was the preferred horse in the 1600 metres Solitaire Plate, a race for horses rated 66 to 90. Trevor kept Alameda in a handy second position behind Greek Star and quickly took over the running inside the final two furlongs. Western Wind who was in about the fourth position, had to cover considerable leeway and though he finished with a strong effort, the front-runner lasted out to win by a neck. Greek Star stayed on to finish third.
