Lady In Lace hammers the opposition

By: Tippu Sultan   August 7 , 2017

Prasad Raju trained Lady In Lace who showed quantum improvement during the Bangalore Summer Season, maintained her status as one of the best three-year-olds stationed in Hyderabad by making light of the challenge of classic winner Windsor Forest from Mumbai in the Gr 3 Hazara Stud Golconda Juvenile Million, a terms race for three-year-olds, the feature event of Monday`s Hyderabad races.

Lady In Lace had won back to back races at Bangalore in splendid fashion. On the other hand, Windsor Forest had won the Fillies Championship at Ooty and then was a close third to Manifold in the Bangalore Fillies Championship. As such, both these horses were supported equally though quite often when an outstation challenger is in the fray, the overwhelming support is for the marauding outsider. The confidence on Lady In Lace was such that she was quoted at a short price.

Fashion Hight went at a good clip in front followed by Turf War, Lady In Race, Tootsie Roll, Windsor Forest and Meritocracy. Inside the final two furlongs, Srinath on Lady In Lace who was confidence personified, steadily moved the filly to take command of the situation with a furlong to go. The progeny of Chinese Whisper bounced clear in a trice and won pulling up from Windsor Forest who was hard-pressed to cover the leeway but not having the speed to make a match with the eventual winner. Windsor Forest was even threatened for the runner-up position which she held on narrowly to push Turf Star to the third position.

Leo D`Silva trained Supremo who was in strong betting on the basis of a good forward run in his last start did not have any problems in winning the 1600 metres Nizam Sagar Cup, a race for horses rated 26 to 46. After Valee Tiger led the field into the straight, Supremo who was handily placed, quickly changed gears and stormed into a decisive lead approaching the final furlong. Supremo comfortably held off the challenge of Treasure Striker and Secret Art.

Vittal Deshmukh trained Paprika recorded an encore by winning the 1000 metres Wanaparthy Cup, a race for horses rated 42 to 62 with an authoritative start to finish mission. Dancing Leaf made a desperate attempt to catch up with the front-runner but failed. Seven Colours, with a late dash, edged out Dream Girl to save place money.

Favourite Sketch of Beauty easily tackled the front-running Legacy Machine in the straight and established a handy lead going into the final furlong which stood the five-year-old mare in good stead as the others came pouncing in the 1200 metres Dashmesh Stud Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 42 to 62. Closer home Island Bird, Gaylre Force and Legend were all closing up the gap but the winning post was sighted before these horse could pose danger to the eventual winner. The run benefit had transformed Vittal Deshmukh trained Masti who trounced the opposition in the lower division of the race. Masti hit the front from the jump out and kept on increasing the lead to eventually check in by a widening margin of five lengths over Blue Eye Babe and Eternal Gift.

Jockey Kuldeep Singh was able to extricate favourite Southern Crown from the rails in nick of time and give the daughter of Multidimensional a clear run and the filly managed to surge ahead of front-running Palisade`s Park close home to claim the 1000 metres Kalamaris Plate, a race for horses rated 26 to 46. Palisade`s Park retained the runner-up berth from fast finishing Sweetie Pie.

Jockey Sai Kiran was at his aggressive best on Sweet Pistol who prevailed over Turf Legend by a narrow margin in the 1200 metres Noble Quest Cup (Div II), a race for three-year-olds. Sweet Pistol showed up in the final furlong while Turf Legend made a good rally from behind along the rails. These two got down to fight to the finish, with Sweet Pistol heading Turf Legend home. Far Sight was a suggestive third. Faisal Hassan trained China Millennium who had summered at Bangalore had no problem in winning the upper division of the race. China Millennium shot ahead inside the distance post and had no problem in containing the challenge of Starlight who made rapid strides along the rails. Exclusive Striker once again saved place money.

Waseem Ahmed trained Icing On The Cake went on a start to finish mission in the 1600 metres Best of Bold Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated up to 30 and accomplished the task by the skin of his teeth. Icing On The Cake covered plenty of leeway from way back but was unlucky to lose the winning position by the proverbial whisker. Jayin closed in with an impressive effort to take the third position.
