Looking at the topsy-turvy results obtaining at all racing centres, more so at Pune, Hyderabad racing has been a blessing with form being a decisive factor in the way results are accruing. Donald Netto trained Leading Legend was a runaway winner of the 1400 metres P G Reddy Memorial Cup, a race for horses rated 42 to 62. The small card of six events ran kindly for punters with all the races being won by horses which had credentials to back their claims.

The strongly fancied Leading Legend chased Perfection into the straight before skipping clear in the hands of highly successful apprentice Md Ismail. Mahathi struggled for speed and took a long while to warm up to get into a rhythm. Srinath had Zelus nicely placed in the front bunch and the favourite steadily moved up to take charge with two furlongs left in the race. The progeny of Kingda Ka kicked clear and only Hope Is Eternal, coming from the back, looked to throw a semblance of a fight. Zelus eased past the post comfortably with Hope Is Eternal taking the second spot and in the process indicating the fact that she is ready to go one better next time out. Exclusive Striker was another who should benefit from the effort of finishing a close third.

Ismail had Palisade`s Park track Composure well into the straight before sailing past the front-runner and going beyond the reach of the rest in the final furlong. Manoveg finished on from behind to edge out Composure to grab the second place. The lower division of the race was claimed by Ice Cave, the lesser fancied runner coming from the stables of trainer Satheesh. Pixie Girl led from the start but in the final furlong was passed on the inside by favourite Darakshan Setarah who got a nice run along the rails. Even as these were battling it out, Ice Cave on the wide outside showed up with a powerful effort. Ice Cave managed to get the better of Darakshan Setarah in the final strides of the race. Pixie Girl weakened finished third.

Ismail completed a treble for the day when he guided Leo D`Silva trained Golden Image to a comfortable win in the 1200 metres Coral Gables Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated up to 30. Golden Image proved to be immensely superior to the opposition as the four-year-old gelding moved from behind with giant strides and stormed away to win by a margin of over two lengths. New Comer was second ahead of My Choice while War Cry weakened after being prominent. Ananth Vatsalya trained Ikigai was another easy winner of the day.
