Dance Oh Dance romps home in the feature

By: Tippu Sultan   July 19 , 2018

Laxman Singh trained Dance Oh Dance romped home in the 1200 metres Golden Dagger Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 58 to 78, the feature event of Thursday`s Hyderabad races. After the mayhem of the inaugural day`s racing, Thursday`s racing uneventful with favourites ruling the roost at prices that one reckoned for a generous gift from the bookmakers.

Dance Oh Dance was the favourite and jockey Kuldeep Singh had no hesitation in taking the Laxman Singh trainee to the front. The progeny of Lord Admiral enjoyed her foray in front and skipped clear of her only pursuer Valle Sceptre in the final furlong to win by a widening margin of four lengths. Asteria was third. The lower division of the race was won by the fancied Fashion High from the stables of trainer R H Sequeira. Fashion High tracked Dream Girl into the straight before bouncing clear for a comfortable win over favourite New Port who was left to do too much in the final furlong to have any realistic chance. Seven Eleven was third.

The drifting odds on Vittal Deshmukh trained Eternal Angel had no bearing on her prospects in the 1400 metres S S Cardmaster Plate, a race for horses rated 42 to 62. Jockey Hannam had Eternal Angel track Palace on Wheels well into the straight before establishing a winnable lead. Phenomenal Cruise made a late dash but fell short by half a length. Palace On Wheels weakened to finish third.

Ravinder Singh trained Vijays Delight had impressed everyone in the workouts and there was a strong conviction that this Ravinder Singh trainee would deliver the goods in the 1200 metres Nelston Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 26 to 46. Vijays Delight easily overtook the front-running Miracle King and recorded a fluent win. The jockey of Miracle King was inconvenienced because of equipment malfunction due to which Abhisheka Pawar could not ride out his horse full. Despite this, Miracle King comfortably took the second position ahead of Ikigai. Vittal Deshmukh trained Mandy was widely expected to have it easy in the lower division of the race but the favourite just about made it thanks to the perseverance of Hannam. Vijay`s Empress had a good lead and was not inclined to give up though she failed to keep a straight line under pressure. Mandy came up with a strong challenge on the wide outside and got the nod in the final stride of the race. Take A Bow was third some distance away.

The one-sided betting on Laxman trained Platts Tour in the 1200 metres Nizamabad Plate (Div I), a race for maiden three-year-olds indicated that the Sans Craintes Stud Farm produce had been well prepared to have a bold show. Initially, there was confusion whether stablemate Hailstorm could be the preferred horse but the shortening of odds on Platts Tour dispelled any such notion. Platts Tour went on a start to finish mission and was so far ahead of the rest that the three-year-filly was hailed a winner long way from home. Hailstorm ran on to finish second ahead of Darshish. Lifeline attempted runaway tactics in the lower division of the race but inside the final 300 metres, shot her bolt. Favourite Blue Empress, also from Laxman Singh`s stables, who was in a handy position, pounced on the front-runner and in a trice had gone beyond the rest of the rest. Tiger of the Sea ran on to take the second position ahead of Guiding Force.

Vittal Deshmukh trained Miss Lilly was the only exception during the course of the day on whom the odds did not expand dramatically. Dunkirk was in the lead when Trevor brought Mis Lilly with a well-timed run. The favourite fought for a brief while with Dunkirk before storming ahead close home. Meritocracy had a useful outing when coming from way off the pace to finish third.
