Isn’t She Lovely pulls it off in Mysore 1000 Guineas

  October 20 , 2018

Padmanabhan trained Isn`t She Lovely made the expected progress since her last run and won the Gr 3 Karnataka Racehorse Owners Association Mysore 1000 Guineas, the first classic of the season on Thursday. Punjabi Girl who had won the Gr 1 Fillies Championship at Bangalore gave a disappointing performance and finished poorly.

Isn`t She Lovely was backed down as the favourite ahead of Punjabi Girl because when the latter beat the former at Bangalore, the Padmanabhan trainee was short on experience. And the verdict was not big. Sakura was another horse in contention as reflected by the trend in the betting ring.

Jockey Sandesh took Isn`t She Lovely on a start to finish mission which had the other contestants in a spot of bother in keeping up with the pace. Isn`t She Lovely led by lengths and it proved to be a winning one. Isn`t She Lovely went into the final furlong in what looked like a difficult leeway for the rest to makeup. Though Isn`t She Lovely was tiring out in the end possibly because of the pace at which Sandesh went, she had enough legs to win the race from fast-finishing Sakura. Shesmyscript was shaping to get the second position but Sakura managed to nose her out in the final stride. Punjabi Girl finished faraway sixth. Punjab Girl did not show the spark, and this perhaps was the reason why Akshay Kumar could never get a favourable position and got entangled in such a way she was in the rear when Isn`t She Lovely was well ahead of the pack.

Prasanna Kumar trained Corybantic recorded an encore in the 1600 mayor`s Cup, a race for horses rated 60 and above. From the wide outside draw, Trevor Patel had Corybantic take the position in front. Corybantic came under pressure from Buscadero in the final furlong and looked vulnerable. But the favourite produced that bit extra to skip clear. Ambitious Reward ran on late to take the third position.

Lesser fancied Amaris from the stables of Rakesh gave an assertive performance in the 1200 metres Air Force Trophy, a race for horses rated 40 to 65. Bandito attempted catch me if you can tactics but in the final furlong was overhauled by Warlock. Even as Warlock was under pressure to quicken, Amaris came on the outside with a smooth run and sailed past the battling Warlock to record a handsome win in the hands of jockey J Paswan. Maduro who received support in the betting ring, was never in the hunt, gracing the wrong end but came home with a rush to displace Warlock from the runner-up position.

Spiritual Queen led all the way in the 1400 metres Esquire Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45 but in the waning yards of the race, the quietly fancied Black Whizz got past her to provide his trainer Sirajuddin one of those rare wins. Lightning Attack who was in close proximity of the front-runner but was unable to change gears as it were and had to settle for the third place. Long shot from the stables of trainer Monnappa, Coorg Regiment recorded a comprehensive win in the lower division of the race. After Kasauli led well into the straight, Coorg Regiment cruised past the front-runner with a furlong left in the race and skipped clear. Favourite Aeolus was hard-pressed to quicken under the forceful riding of Srinath but could no better than take the second position. Bazinga was third seven lengths adrift of the runner-up.

In a race in which fortunes fluctuated in the final furlong of the 1400 metres Meerut Pate (Div I), a race for horses in the lowest category, Amazing flew home to get the race in the final strides of the race. The Tejaswi trainee downed the colours of As Good As It gets who shaped like a winner. Ocean Park was third. Rakesh trained Everlasting Memory swept the field off their feet and got a stranglehold of the lower division of the race even before approaching the final furlong. The whole field was spread out right across the track. In a late charge, Romantic Haven got the second place from Future Bright.

Sajid Qureshi trained Eyez Hypnotize slammed the opposition in the 1200 metres Hogenekal Plate, a race for horses in the lowest category. In the hands of jockey Prabhakaran, Eyez Hypnotize seized the initiative from the start itself and won by a widening margin of four lengths over Always United and Smart Signs.
