Korol records an encore in style

  October 3 , 2018

Bobby trained Korol recorded an encore by winning the 1200 metres M K Srinivas Memorial Trophy, a race for horses rated 60 and above, the feature event of Wednesday`s Mysore in taking style. Korol`s previous win was achieved with so much ease that a repeat win was very much on cards as the competition that he was taking on this time was weaker.

Jockey Sai Kiran who is enjoying a good run in Mysore, had Korol produce a winning gallop in the stretch run to overhaul the front-running Oceanic Storm inside the final furlong. The progeny of Whipper then stormed clear to win with ease from last start winner El Tycoon who produced a late charge only to find the front-runner beyond his reach. Oceanic Storm managed to keep the third position while the well-backed Fringe Benefit disappointed.

Longshot Ramon just about hung on despite drifting out under pressure to win the 1200 metres Autumn Blue Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 0 to 25. The M R Singh trainee Ramon had the lead going into the final furlong and though the heavily supported Brave Admiral finished with a rattle and appeared to have got the front-runner in his stride, the bobbing of heads went in favour of Ramon. Sai Kiran was astride the winner. Three Wishes was third. M R Singh also had the winner of the lower division of the race through Desert Gold who also was available at long odds. Desert Gold held off She`s Stylish and late-finishing Miss Bolt. Desert Gold led from the start and grimly held on to win in the hands of jockey Dhannu Singh Deora. She`s Stylish who chased the front-runner throughout failed to overhaul the front-runner and had to settle for the second spot which she got in the face of a late flurry shown by Miss Bolt who fell short narrowly.

Wild Wild Angels brought off a big upset in the1400 metres Belur Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 20 to 45. The Dheeraj Venkatswamy trained Wild Wild Angels took off in the final furlong and held off favourite Optimisticapproach who flew home only to find the winning post frustrate his bid by a whisker. Amazonite who did the front-running stayed on to take the third position. The lower division of the race was won by Padmanabhan trained Kerazano who won start to finish, leaving the field stranded in the final furlong to win by a widening margin of six lengths. Triggar took the second place ahead of Towering Storm. Favourite Kashka performed poorly.

Lesser fancied Star Atrium from the stables of trainer Bipin Salvi just about held on to win the 1200 metres K Thammanna Gowda Memorial Trophy, a race for horses rated 40 to 65. Star Atrium led from the start and though, under pressure to retain the lead, the lesser fancied runner dug into the reserves and managed to stay ahead at the post to win from the late-finishing Louisiana. Favourite Turf Magic made a valiant attempt but fell short narrowly to finish third ahead of Interesting. The first four finishers finished almost in a line

Rakesh trained Chandini produced a winning effort down the final furlong to sail past the front-running Kaguya Himei to record a facile victory in the 1600 metres J Tyrrell Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45. The pace set up Kaguya Himei suited Chandini well as the eight-year-old mare usually takes time to warm up. Chandini found her rhythm in the stretch early enough to win the race without giving anxious moments to her supporters. Kir Royale nosed out Counter Pointer to save place money.
