Multiglory thunders home with Burdwan Cup

By: Goldie Boy   December 21 , 2018

The change of stables transformed the fortune of the six-year-old horse, Multiglory who thundered home by five lengths over the opposition to claim the 1,600m Maharajadhiraja Uday Chand Mahtab of Burdwan Memorial Cup, Friday`s feature event. Jockey Pradeep Chauhan partnered the Vikash Jaiswal-trained horse. The 7/1 shot`s victory in the feature event , had followed after two of their favourites had delivered the goods. Trainers Vjay Singh, Arti Doctor and jockey Nikhil Naidu also had their share of luck in the afternoon`s nine-event card when they notched up a brae of wins apiece.
Multiglory was ridden well off the pace but brought into the contention inside the final 300m, on the wide out to skate away from the opposition as Commodore, Namid and Hartnell made a bulk of the running.

Vikash`s other winners – Fireburg and Whitewalker – hardly gave anxious moments to their hoard of backers. Fireburg was held back behind the speedy pair of Indus River and Mustang till about the final furlong before the three-year-old took over for a facile victory while Whitewalker made his own running on way to winning their respective events – the upper division of the Kings`s Academy Handicap and the division II of the Pentire Handicap, both 1,100m sharp sprints.

Vijay`s day started with the victory of his fancied runner, He Calls The Shot, who in the hands of Naidu, was nursed in the mid-division of the 1,100m Supreme Choice Handicap till about 300m from home. He zigzagged his way to victory over the long time leader, Bidstone Hill (app. P. Vikram), who was seen dictating the terms with Born To Win for a major part of the race.
VIjay`s 2/1 favourite baby, Angel Grace (Naidu) fully justified her odds, in the debut run as she made her own running to literally thrash her stable-mate, Ruby Cube (Ranidan Singh) in the 1,200m Aspirant Plate.

Arti `s Sabrejet (C. Alford) was hardly a match for Javed Khan`s Dancing Lord in her last clash. However, in the 2,000m Stringfellows Handicap, the three-year-old colt had an easy measure of Vijay`s Avarua (Hindu Singh) at the fancied odds of 4/1. The Air Support colt won almost from the start.
Arti`s 9/4 favourite, Pelicon (app. R.S. Bhati), was a virtual arm-chair ride for his jockey in the 1,400m Xisca Handicap. Allowing Hail The Queen to dictate terms till the final turn, the public-choice shot in to the lead to score untroubled over a fancied Jaiswal-runner, Uncrowned King (Chauhan).

The lower division of the King`s Academy was claimed by trainer Daniel David`s strongly fancied runner, Hurricane Storm, ridden by the enterprising South India-based jockey R.N. Darshan who opened his account on the RCTC`s race track.

The upper division of the Pentire Handicap, on the other hand, was also an easy pick for Shyam Habbu`s newly gained western India horse, Stallone. Jockey Shezad Khan rode a well-judged race on the 2/1 favourite.
