Racing returns to Happy Valley after FWD Champions day with a competitive 8-race card.Thirty-two year old South African jockey Aldo Domeyer has been granted a license by the HKJC till the end of the current season and will ride C P POWER, PRANCE DRAGON, and ARCADA for trainer and countryman Tony Millard.

Aldo has almost 1000 career wins to his credit and wewish him a safe and successful stint in Hong Kong. Aldo's best scoring chance seems to be on Arcada who relishes the Happy Valley extended mile, but he will have to contend with the likes of Vincy (who tries Happy Valley for the first time) and a host of others including Merrygowin, God of Dragon, and Perfect Pair. Aldo will hope to emulate the success that South African jockey Grant van Niekerk has had in his first season at Hong Kong. Grant van Niekerk's career at Hong Kong had started in splendid fashion when he rode a double on his very first day. Happy Valley, though, is a very compact race course and takes some getting used to (it had taken Grant more than 2 months and 45 losing rides at Happy Valley before he could ride his first winner at this city track).

First Race -- # 8) Gunnar appeals as a bet in the first race of the day. Gunnar, a 3-year old who finished a length and three quarters behind General Iron, had impressed in a Barrier Trial (see picture) before his last run and will show improvement. Travel Datuk, Mr Right and Cheer Win also run with a chance in this race.

Fourth Race -- # 4) Happy Warrior and # 1) Acclaimed Light are the two who should figure prominently in the finish for this race. This pair should be able to get the better of # 9) Mister Monte and # 10) Ishvara. The run of #6) Circuit Number One who was the priciest horse sold during last year's Hong Kong International Sale and who has had 9 Barrier Trials since then will be watched with some interest.
