The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has framed an eleven-race card for Sunday’s racing at Sha Tin with the Group 3 Lion Rock Trophy as the feature of the day. Our correspondent looks at Buddies, Silver Fig, and Destin as betting propositions.

Third Race - # 1) Buddies won start to finish in his last attempt over the extended mile on the All-Weather track at Shat Tin. He may have to contend with Big Fortune and Intrepic for the lead, but seems to be a three year old on the improve. We expect Buddies to repeat his winning effort over the shorter 1400 meter trip over the Turf Track on Sunday and get the measure of Big Fortune and Intrepic.

Fourth Race - # 8) Silver Fig is up in class 3 when attempting to repeat his last start win over the 1200 meters Sha Tin Turf Track over the same course and distance. He will have to contend with the three-year-old Red Desert from John Size’s yard and Hinchin Love who comes down to Class 3 after his last start fourth where he finished five lengths behind Yee Cheong Baby.

Fifth Race - # 10) Destin has finished second in his last two starts and has since had a Barrier Trial. Both these second placings have come with jockey Derek Leung who partners this Paul O’Sullivan trained gelding again. Destin should be able to fend off the challenge from The Createth and from Speedy Wally.
