Racing continues at Sha Tin on Wednesday and all eight races for the night will be run on the All Weather Track. There is no racing next Wednesday, 19th June, which means that this is the second of four consecutive race meets at Sha Tin.
Our correspondent recommends the following three races as betting propositions.
Fourth Race - # 10) Blooming Spirit had finished 2 hundredths of a second behind Lucky Thought when they last met. At that time, Lucky Thought was giving Blooming Spirit eight pounds. On Wednesday night, Lucky Thought will have to give Blooming Spirit eighteen pounds once we factor apprentice jockey, Alfred Chan’s ten-pound allowance. Blooming Spirit will also benefit from jumping from barrier 4 instead of barrier 11 from which he was hard ridden to track the leaders last time out. From a pure weights perspective, Blooming Spirit appeals as a bet. Lucky Thought will be ridden by jockey Zac Purton and has had an impressive barrier trial where he beat the Class 2 Baltic Whisper. Lucky Thought had hung out slightly and was noticed to be racing with its mouth open and may benefit from the change from the Lugging bit to the Ring bit that his trainer Danny Shum has made. Viva Council has won this season over the 1200 meter All Weather course and is fit as evidenced from his last forward run. Elite Boy always attracts attention based on his form over this course and distance last season, but he is a difficult horse to follow and is a known bleeder.
