OptimistOn arrival at the Gates, OPTIMIST was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to be sore by right fore leg, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under the Starter’s Orders. The gelding has to be passed fit to race before next accepting to race.
Blau HimmelAfter the race BLAU HIMMEL was observed to have an abrasion on the right fore pastern and SUPREMO had a wolf tooth on the right side.
Johnny Bravo(O)In the final furlong, JOHNNY BRAVO (Dashrath Singh) was observed to have shifted out under use of the whip thereby losing valuable ground and later on the jockey fumbled with his reins thereby failing to persevere with his mount at a crucial stage of the race. Considering the short verdict with which JOHNNY BRAVO had lost the race, the matter was reported to the Stewards.
Fire QueenFIRE QUEEN (S.A. De Sousa) hung out in the straight despite jockeys efforts. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
Highland FlameJockey R.Shelar (HIGHLAND FLAME) was observed to have dropped his hands well before passing the winning post thereby losing a place. The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

Flaring SunJockey NG McCullagh (FLARING SUN) has been fined Rs.3000/ for improper use of the whip on his mount wherein his mount shifted in and in the process went across the field under the use of the whip, though without causing interference to any horse in the race.
CherokeeIn view of the behavior exhibited by CHEROKEE, Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been asked to show the filly in two Mock races to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.
TembungIn the process of being stalled, TEMBUNG (Imran Chisty) got jammed in the rear flap. The gelding was unloaded and examined by the Club’s VO who certified him fit to race. An objection was lodged by Jockey Imran Chisty, rider of TEMBUNG, placed 4th against CHEROKEE (R.Hughes) placed 3rd by the judge. The reason being, immediately after the jump, CHEROKEE (R.Hughes) came on to MASTER PLANNER (App.N.S.Parmar) who came on to him and bumped his horse, totally unbalancing him and his horse, breaking his rhythm and making him lose his position which cost him a certain place. The Stewards after viewing the video replay of the race from all the angles, considering the jockeys explanation and in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards, decided to overrule the objection. After the race TEMBUNG was observed to have an abrasion on the left hock and right hind coronet and FRENCH KISS had a wolf tooth on the left side of her mouth.

3 (40) THE ICEBERG PLATE

Gazebo(O)At the request of Tr.Imtiaz A.Sait, GAZEBO was examined by the Club’s V.O. at 1145 hours on the race day (15/03/2009) and found to go short by the right fore leg. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
TelstarJockey C Rajendra (TELSTAR) has been cautioned for changing course in the straight on a couple of occasions and for failing to ride out to complete advantage till past the Post.
Tommy CarmichaelNear 1000 metres, TOMMY CARMICHAEL (R. Biramne) rolled inwards and took the running of WESTERN CHALLENGE (Daniel M.Grant) causing the latter to be checked. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against anyone.

4 (41) LE GRIS CHEVAL PLATE (DIV-I)

Queens CourtSoon after the start, QUEENS COURT (SA De Sousa) shifted out due to which CLASSIC STAR (Daniel M Grant) shifted out and hampered the running of LEGAL EYE (R. Hughes). Jockey SA De Sousa has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
Legal EyeAfter the race, LEGAL EYE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and has been stopped from racing for the stipulated period of 4 weeks . The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

5 (42) THE SATINELLO TROPHY (DIV-II)
A Handicap for Horses rated 40 TO 66 - (5 YEARS OLD & UPWARD)

Sepia ToneAfter the race, SEPIA TONE was observed to have lost its left hind plate.
Top ActionJockey Vikram Walkar (TOP ACTION) reported that he lost his whip near 200 meters. He explained that his whip hit the gear of the horse on its outside, i.e. SOCARORO, and that was the reason for the loss of the whip.
IntimacyTr. Rehanullah Khan and Apprentice S. Zervan were questioned regarding the running and riding of INTIMACY. The Apprentice was instructed to hit the front or be in 2nd position. The Apprentice explained that his horse threw her head up at the start and when he saw a couple of horses in front of him, he tucked his mount behind as instructed and rode her out. The Trainer stated that this was the first ride of the Apprentice on this horse and the Apprentice had explained that the horse had thrown his head up and lost some ground, therefore he took no exception to the Apprentice’s riding. He further added that the horse had been ridden as per the instructions. The explanations tendered by them was noted.
XiamenXIAMEN (A.M. Tograllu, dr. 5) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and made contact with SOCARORO (Imran Chisty, dr.3), FESTIVE LIGHT (Nadeem Alam, dr. 4) being slowly away. Also, SEPIA TONE (Dashrath Singh, dr. 2) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside. Jockeys, A.M. Tograllu and Dashrath Singh, have been asked to be more alert the Gates in the future.
Festive LightFESTIVE LIGHT (Nadeem Alam) trailed the field and finished a detached last. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been advised to ensure that the mare runs with the field in the future.

6 (43) THE A.C. ARDESHIR TROPHY (GR. 3)

Rhapsidion SnowJockey David Allan (RHAPSIDION SNOW) has been cautioned for repeatedly looking back in the final stages of the race.
Ruben StarIn the final stages, RUBEN STAR (YS Srinath) lugged out and hampered the running of YANA (Daniel M Grant) who was steadied. Trainer Karthik G has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
VanquishVANQUISH (Saleem Golam) was placed fifth and ELMWOOD (C.S.Jodha) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

7 (44) THE MID DAY TROPHY

LahinchTrainer Bezan Chenoy has been fined Rs.1000/ for presenting his charge LAHINCH without the Blinkers, equipment for the use of which prior permission was obtained. The horse ran with the Blinkers.

8 (45) THE GOOL S. POONAWALLA MILLION (GR. 3)

HarmonicaPassing 400 meters, HARMONICA (F.Norton) was held up for a clear run for a brief period.
Bourbon Bay (O)BOURBON BAY (Samuel Fargeat) hung out for a brief period in the straight. Trainer S Ganapathy has been asked to remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
NatouchkaNATOUCHKA (M.Narredu) was placed fifth and ARISTOCRATIC (C.Rajendra) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

9 (46) THE RANJIT V. BHAT MEMORIAL GOLD TROPHY

River DancerIn the final furlong, RIVER DANCER (NG McCullagh) was observed to have shifted in under use of the whip and went across the whole field and inconvenienced STAR ALWAYS (F.Norton) who in turn inconvenienced OYSTER PEARL (A.M.Tograllu). Jockey NG McCullagh has been fined Rs.5000/ for improper use of the whip.
Angels GloryANGELS GLORY (Y.S.Srinath, dr.9) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and made contact with BEYOND THERAPY (Imran Chisty, dr.10) and soon thereafter in trying to control ANGELS GLORY, the filly shifted in and made contact with SHYBOY (App N.S. Parmar, dr.8) who had slightly shifted out. The incident was accidental as such no action was initiated in the matter.

KaiAn Objection was lodged by Jockey David Allan, rider of KAI, placed 2nd against NEEDFORSPEED (C Rajendra, placed 1st). The reason being, at about 200 metres, NEEDFORSPEED (C.Rajendra) came across his horse and took his ground when his horse was gaining momentum due to which he had stop riding and change course which cost him a certain race since his horse again gained 2 to 3 lengths and lost by a neck.
Hot TalentAfter the race, HOT TALENT was found to be sore by left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
