By: Tippu Sultan   February 26 , 2023

Nilesh Rawal trained Beauty Blaze produced a scintillating performance to floor the opposition in the 1200 metres MCEME Rolling Trophy, a race for horses rated 40 to 65, the feature event of Sunday`s Hyderabad races. Punters of late had been getting the wrong end of the stick with long shots ruling the roost but Sunday`s races ran kindly with the horses that were in the betting winning most races. Trainer Leo D`Silva saddled three winners.

Srinivas Reddy trained The Thunder who had run a close third last time out was backed strongly ahead of Beauty Blaze, her qualification being running in much superior company on the last occasion. Beauty Blaze was handicapped by the wide outside draw but jockey Akshay Kumar did well to move swiftly and rolled over to the inside after travelling the first furlong wide. The Thunder had the speed to hit the front from the word `go` but had no answer when Beauty Blaze swooped on her. Beauty Blaze stormed ahead and quickly established a winning lead. Malibu, Above The Law and Garnet finished in line in the order mentioned for the minor placings behind the winner.

Leo D`Silva trained Kenaf asserted her supremacy in the N Nari Reddy Memorial Million, a terms race for three-year-olds. The strong favourite though was Srinivas Reddy trained Siddharth. The well backed Kenaf hit the front within the first furlong and was never headed thereafter. Kenaf travelled comfortably in front and had a good break over the favourite Siddharth by the final furlong and as such, the latter had a hopeless task of catching up the front-runner who had more on hand. Clare ran on late to save place money.

Prasad Raju trained Sangreal and Leo D`Silva`s Adbhut were both fancied strongly to give a decisive show in the 1200 metres Time And Place Plate (Div I), a race for maiden three-year-olds. Afroz Khan had no hesitation in taking Adbhut to the front and the fancied runner enjoyed a good lead going into the final furlong. Sangreal who was in about the sixth position for most part of the trip, had plenty of leeway to cover on the front-runner. Though Sangreal covered good ground in the closing stages of the race, Adbhut`s lead held in good stead as the front-runner escaped to victory. Great Giver who raced up with the field stayed on to take the third position. Prasad Raju led in the winner in the lower division of the race where the late rally by the favourite Splendour On Grass helped the favourite to prevail in the end. Happy Soul ran freely in front and opened up a considerable lead in the final furlong. However, Splendour On Grass covered ground with big strides and managed to pinch a half length verdict. Final Judgment was third.

Magan Singh Parmar trained Coming Home obliged as a strongly backed runner in the 1400 metres Olympic Flame Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45. Star Medal led from the start and had the lead going into the final furlong. Coming Home who made rapid strides in the stretch challenged the leader and easily overwhelmed Star Medal for a comfortable win. Shubrak came up with a late rally to finish second ahead of the long-time leader.

Both the divisions of the Chief Justice Trophy, a race for horses rated 40 to 65, were claimed by Leo D`Silva trained horses. Apprentice jockey Md Ekram Alam aggressively pushed Winning Streak to take charge and the five-year-old gelding enjoyed a good lead which proved decisive in the end when stablemates Painted Apache and favourite Nugget made strong bids close to home. Winning Streak held on to win. In a three-horse finish, Afroz Khan managed to drive out Leo D`Silva trained Only My Way to eke out a narrow win over favourite Juramento and the well fancied Candy Girl in the lower division of the race.. The last named shot ahead after the first furlong and led deep into the straight. Only My Way essayed a strong challenged all the way in the final furlong. Juramento too made big progress after moving over to the inside. The three of them were all in with a chance but in the end, Only My Way pulled out that bit extra to land the spoils ahead of Juramento. Candy Girl weakened to finish third.

Vittal Deshmukh trained Divine Destiny gave company to front-running Protocol till approaching the final bend. At this point, Ashhad Asbar pushed Divine Destiny to take charge. Divine Destiny showed lot of flourish when leaving the field stranded to eventually win by a widening margin of eight lengths over stablemate Voice of A Dream and Sucker Punch to win the 2400 metres Flirting Vision Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45 in great style. This was the first win for Divine Destiny in nine outings.
