The Hyderabad Race Club, led by Chairperson Surender Reddy, deserves credit for successfully conducting a ten-day season when glanders had threatened to derail proceedings entirely. Traditionally concluding by February, the season was extended into March for the first time and wrapped up on April 5. The races were conducted smoothly, with seven-race cards through most of the season and eight in the final week.

Importantly, the club extended financial support towards basic training expenses, offering relief to owners during the enforced break when horses were idle without returns. The monsoon season is expected to commence in the third week of July.

While racing itself progressed without disruption, the closing weekend proved testing for followers of form. The final day, in particular, made winner selection a challenging exercise.

In the 1400 metres Kamareddy Plate (60–85), favourite Racing Ruler compromised his chances by running wide at the bend. Exclusive Black set a strong pace and looked home until Certsinty, strongly backed, finished with determination to win under Kuldeep Singh for trainer Laxman Singh. Arabesque finished on to take second ahead of the weakening leader.

Both divisions of the Kinnerasani Plate for maiden three-year-olds went to favourites. In the upper division, Modin led early, but Trevor Patel, well positioned on the favourite Cosmic Gift, made his move in the straight to secure a comfortable victory. Belgian Woffle edged out She’s A Bomb for third. The lower division saw Quattro win in similar fashion, with Ashhad Asbar timing his run well. Rajendra finished ahead of Gachhanmanasvin for second.

Red Hot Punch continued his consistent run, giving his trainer Ananth Vatsalya the first of a double. After Ek led, Red Hot Punch quickened well to take control and win comfortably. Divine Path finished second, while the heavily supported Aditya faded after staying prominent early.

Ananth Vatsalya saddled Trust Me to a narrow win in the 1200 metres Aristocrat Plate (20–45). Indradhanush led until the final furlong before Trust Me, ridden by Natesh, gathered momentum to score in a close finish, holding off Cosmico and Natu Natu. Joint favourite Lego failed to make an impact.

One Nation, trained by Hilton Sequeira and ridden by Neeraj Rawal, finished strongly to defeat favourite Feel The Magic in the 1400 metres Rock Haven Plate. Real Thailiva was a distant third.

The 1400 metres Recommender Plate (40–65) saw long shots dominate. Shoolin set the pace but weakened late as Foxy Girl finished fast, just failing to catch the winner. Armstrong finished third, while favourite Special Star was slow to begin and never threatened.

In the concluding Kuntala Plate, Photograph, trained by Robin Reddy, delivered a finish timed to perfection, swooping in with a late burst that turned the race on its head in the final strides. Bold Indian, the favourite, had struck the front inside the last furlong and looked set to seal the issue, but just when his supporters began to count their winnings, Photograph arrived with a decisive thrust to snatch victory right on the post. The judge’s verdict confirmed what the eye could barely separate. Char Ek Char finished third, some distance behind the duelling pair.
