Jockey Varun (NORTHBOUND) was suspended from riding in races on 1st April, 2026 and the first day of the Calcutta Monsoon Meeting 2026 for excessive use of the whip (3rd infringement). The Veterinary Officer reported that NORTHBOUND was observed to be under distress after running of the race and necessary veterinary assistance was given.

Jockey Nikhil Naidu (OISHIKA) reported that his whip got entangled with the reins and when tried to recover it he momentarily lost control during the concluding stages of the race, was noted.
