Manvendra Singh when questioned regarding the riding instructions to Jockey Afzal Khan on his charge BREAD N BUTTER stated that he had instructed the Jockey to position himself in 4th or 5th place, to do his best in the final straight and in his opinion the gelding seemed to be trotting back stiff after the race. Jockey Afzal Khan corroborated the instructions and stated that his mount was not striding too freely in the initial stages of the race and had to be coaxed to make progress from about the 600 metres, was noted. The Veterinary Officer reported that BREAD N BUTTER returned lame on right fore. Tr. Manvendra Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer. |

| | An objection was lodged by Jockey Yash Narredu, the rider of A STAR IS BORN placed 3rd by the Judge against Jockey Akshay Kumar, the rider of IMPERIAL POWER placed 2nd on the grounds of “last 100 metres intimidating me, coming onto me in the last 50 metres when I stopped my riding completely and checked my mount which cost me the race”. The Stewards after interviewing Jockeys Yash Narredu and Akshay Kumar, viewing the CCTV replay of the race and taking into consideration the opinion expressed by the Stipendiary Steward decided to overrule the objection. The “All Clear” signal was ordered to be hoisted. Jockey Akshay Kumar was fined a sum of Rs. 3,000/ for allowing his mount to drift in, in the concluding stages of the race. The Veterinary Officer reported that b c A STAR IS BORN was examined on the morning of Sunday, 18th December, 2022 and found to be lame on left fore. Tr. Rajesh Narredu was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer. |
