Form Book Runs the Show as Trevor Tightens His Grip

  March 21 , 2026

Saturday`s Mumbai races unfolded with the suspense of a foregone conclusion, as the favourites and fancied runners marched in obediently. Pradeep Chouhan and Trevor Patel dominated proceedings with a treble, the latter extending his championship lead to daunting proportions. M K Jadhav chipped in with a double, while punters who followed the script were rewarded and those chasing surprises were left searching for drama.

Jadhav`s Beast Mode, having hinted at ability last time, demolished the opposition by seven widening lengths in the 1400 metres Racingpulse.in Trophy for maiden three-year-olds. The race doubled up as a promotional event for Plumatic of Usha Stud Farm, who obligingly sired both the winner and runner-up Remarkable. Legadema followed them home.

In the Indiarace.com Trophy, Organised Chaos lived up to his name only in theory. Under Sandesh, he behaved like a model citizen and won for Adhirajsingh Jodha. Favourite Funny Bunny, however, took the concept of “freedom of movement” rather seriously, drifting out in the straight like a tourist on Marine Drive, extinguishing punters` hopes in the process. Paloma ran straight, which in this race qualified as a notable achievement, but still missed second by a neck.

Manwar returned quickly after last week`s win, clearly under instructions to strike while the iron and the season were both hot. In a race that looked open, Trevor settled him at the back before producing a perfectly timed run to win with authority from Savage Attack. Renoir attempted a start-to-finish heist, failed in execution but still salvaged place money ahead of Her Charge. The favourite Allez L`etoile, meanwhile, chose invisibility over participation when it mattered.

The betting ring, never one to be outdone in theatre, produced its own subplot in the Race Mirror Trophy. Jadhav`s Key West, easily the most credentialed runner, drifted alarmingly in the market, while Hola Amigo was backed as though privy to state secrets. Parmar, unimpressed by market theatrics, guided Key West to a comfortable pillar-to-post win, leaving Jagger four lengths behind. Aeon Flux, despite sustained support, ran like a promise that forgot its punchline. Hola Amigo justified neither the money nor the mystery.

Vegatha completed the Chouhan–Patel double, though not without drama. The drifting odds hinted at an upset, and for a moment Joondalup looked ready to script one for James McKeown. Trevor, however, had other ideas, extracting every ounce of effort from Vegatha to edge past by a neck. Ashwa Brazil and the well-backed Matisse followed, both close enough to matter and far enough to lose.

Scaramouche, trained by Behram Cama, entered the Free Press Journal Trophy with the aura of inevitability and duly obliged. After Big Bay set a searching pace, Sandesh pressed the button at the right moment, and the favourite quickened away with the ease of a horse who knew the result in advance. Art Collector snatched second from a tiring Big Bay.

Desert Classic ensured Trevor signed off in style, making the concluding Times of India Trophy a one-act play. Backed as if defeat had been outlawed, he led from start to finish, giving Chouhan yet another winner in what has been a fortnight of unrelenting success for the trainer. Arbitrage finished second, outperforming expectations, while Pure completed the frame in a race where most of the field appeared to have accepted their fate well before the gates opened.
