Laxman Singh-trained Timeless Vision finally remembered what winning feels like and chose the most dramatic moment possible to do so, rallying in the last furlong to collar Sugar in the 1200 metres Donegal Plate, the top-rated event of Saturday`s Hyderabad card. Four withdrawals trimmed the field, but the real vanishing act came from the heavily backed Star of Opera, who exited during loading, leaving punters clutching tickets and existential questions.
Sugar, armed with race fitness and early initiative, looked home and hosed for most of the straight. Enter Yash Narredu, who seemed to press the “wake up” button on Timeless Vision just in time. The response was immediate and emphatic, as she swooped late to get the verdict on the post. The win snapped a drought stretching over 400 days, and as a bonus, completed a tidy treble for the Laxman Singh–Yash Narredu alliance. Not bad for a “timeless” wait.
Laxman Singh`s Gold Touch, meanwhile, justified quiet confidence in the 1400 metres Wanaparthy Plate for maiden three-year-olds. The market, in its usual dramatic flair, threw its weight behind Toshiro, inflating Gold Touch`s odds to tempting levels. On the track, however, Gold Touch showed far more backbone, quickening decisively in the final furlong and holding off Toshiro`s late charge. Debutant Digital Empress caught the eye finishing third with a flourish, ahead of another latecomer, Master Class.
The Singh–Narredu double turned into a treble courtesy Brilliant Lad in the 1200 metres Hidden Bloom Plate. Having previously found Star of Opera too sharp, Brilliant Lad now faced a field that looked about as threatening as a sleeping cat. Sent off a short-priced favourite, he duly obliged, quickening smartly in the straight and leaving Tootsie Darling chasing shadows. Mexican Wave followed at a respectful distance.
Magan Singh Parmar`s Dhanadeepa, sharpened by a previous defeat, made amends in the 1100 metres Krishna Plate. Most Beautiful led bravely but found the favourite far too strong in the closing stages. Dhanadeepa swept past with authority, while Most Beautiful clung on to second from a fast-finishing Golden Unicorn, the margin shrinking to a neck.
The 1200 metres Crack Regiment Plate saw the well-backed Arthisha and Catch The Worm go stride for stride until the business end, where Arthisha`s effort began to unravel. Catch The Worm surged ahead decisively, leaving no room for debate. Red Hot Punch once again displayed a fondness for place money, edging out Rani Ruckus.
Feel The Magic, from Parmar`s industrious yard, was backed as though defeat had been outlawed in the 1400 metres Nalgonda Plate. The gelding complied without fuss, storming clear in the straight and holding off Deccan Spirit`s late attempt. La Fleuriere trailed in third, several lengths behind.
The market tried to spin a mystery in the 1400 metres Himayat Sagar Plate, where Dali`s Destiny and Rival attracted support, though not without raising eyebrows. Rival never quite got going, while Dali`s Destiny flattered briefly before being brushed aside by last start winner Wolf Creek, who powered away for a facile victory. Krystallos edged out China Town for minor honours, which, on this day, felt like winning a consolation lottery.
