By: Tippu Sultan   January 13 , 2024

Apprentice jockey S Kuldeep Singh guided Dyanoosh to an exhilarating victory in the 1200 meters B Vijay Reddy Memorial Cup, a race tailored for horses rated 40 to 65, which served as the highlight of Saturday`s Hyderabad races at Malakpet. Dyanoosh showcased impressive acceleration in the final furlong, securing a thrilling triumph by overtaking the front-running Long Shot See My Spark in the closing moments of the race. Trainer Magan Singh Parmar was in the spotlight saddling three winners.

Stunning Force, the favourite, failed to live up to expectations, despite staying within striking distance of the early leader, See My Spark. See My Spark appeared vulnerable when faced with a formidable effort from Stunning Force, yet the front-runner summoned an extra burst of energy to maintain his lead until the race`s dying moments. Dyanoosh, making a significant rally from behind, surged ahead just as the finish line loomed. The race concluded with a flurry of contenders finishing strongly, with Clefairy and Juramento relegating the favourite to the fifth position.

Prague, returning after a 352-day hiatus, initially enjoyed status as the favourite for the 1600 meters Anmol Ratan Plate (Div II) a race for horses rated 40 to 65. However, the odds later shifted against Prague. Despite having the experience of running against formidable opponents, Prague had failed to win from his seven outings. Prague had a tie forward and tieback operations that kept him sidelined. Jockey Aashad Asbar also did not handle the horse competently.

In an unexpected turn of events, NRI Super Power and Alpine Girl battled ended up getting substantial support in the betting ring but did not show up at the busy end. Alpine Girl, never a contender, and NRI Superpower, losing its jockey Shivansh just before the final furlong. Prague, positioned well, failed to accelerate, leaving it to the consistently performing Delhi Heights to surge ahead from about the third position Ivanhoe delivered a remarkable effort with a late rally, resulting in a tight finish, with Delhi Heights narrowly securing the win in the hands of jockey Vivek G. Role Model claimed the third spot, while Prague settled for fourth place. Surya Prakash who rode Ivanhoe took objection against Vivek G who was astride the winner for interference in the last 150 metres which cost him a certain race. The objection did not find favour with the Stewards.

The 1100 metres Attractress Plate, a race for maiden three-year-olds did not give out a clear favourite though close to race time Bellingham seemed to have more supporters than Imperia. The last named did not get a good start as she veered in and banged the rails and thereafter she was tailed off last so far behind the field that she had to be counted out from the race. Bellingham led the field deep into the straight when Cannon Rose on the inside and Royal Parade on the wide outside showed up. Cannon Rose appeared to have got the edge but Royal Parade finished with renewed vigour to snatch back the initiative and despite veering out, managed to prevail by a neck. Bellingham who failed to sustain the effort in front, weakened to finish third.

Laxman Singh trained, Dali`s Destiny, was backed with confidence to replicate success in the 1400 meters Twin Star Cup—a competition designed for horses rated 20 to 45. Apprentice jockey Ajay Kumar positioned Dali`s Destiny just a hand`s distance behind the leading Queen Empress well into the straight. In the final furlong, Kumar urged the favourite forward to seize control.

Dali`s Destiny displayed a powerful surge, maintaining a lead despite a formidable challenge from Samrat, who made a threatening run towards the finish. Ultimately, the front-runner had ample momentum to comfortably cross the post in first place, with Samrat settling for a close second. Encore made a late push and secured the third position.

Magan Singh Parmar trained Cosmico was backed with conviction to win the 1200 metres Ballerina Star Plate (Div I), a race for horses rated 20 to 45 even though the six-year-old gelding hadn`t won a race for over 800 days. The speedy Golden Forza set a fast pace, with Cosmico settled in a handy third position by jockey Vivek. Cosmico picked up tremendous acceleration in the final furlong and won drawing away from the field to win in great style. Star Racer ran on to take the second position ahead of Angel Tesoro.

Fly To The Stars, from trainer Raza Shezad`s stable, marked a triumphant return after an absence of over 400 days, securing victory as the heavily supported favourite in the 1600 meters Anmol Ratan Plate (Div I), a race catering to horses rated 40 to 65. Maintained in the mid-group until the final turn, jockey Zervan skilfully accelerated the pace, enabling Fly To The Stars to close the gap swiftly.

With remarkable agility, Fly To The Stars surged ahead, dominating the race by the final furlong. Despite a determined effort from Hugh Capet in pursuit, it proved futile, and Hugh Capet settled for the second position. Honourable Lady made a remarkable late charge, seemingly appearing out of nowhere with a powerful run. However, the front-runner, Fly To The Stars, maintained a comfortable lead, reaching the safety of the post with a margin that rapidly diminished.

Sandeep trained D Minchu delivered a commanding performance in the 1200 meters Ballerina Star Plate (Div II), a race designated for horses rated 20 to 45. Despite Power Ranger being the crowd favourite, the horse couldn`t live up to the strong support he received in the betting ring. Golden Inzio took the lead from the beginning, closely pursued by D Minchu. Despite momentarily veering off a straight course, D Minchu found a strong rhythm ultimately clinching victory by a margin of over three lengths. The closest contender, Coming Home, secured the second position, with several horses finishing closely behind. Beauty Flame secured third place and edged out the long-time leader, Golden Inzio, in the process.

Jockey Naresh guided Jet Falcon to victory in the last race, the 1400 meters Business Tycoon Plate, showcasing a start-to-finish dominance in the race tailored for horses in the lowest category. Trained by Magan Singh Parmar, Jet Falcon displayed eagerness at the front and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the race. Naresh employed the whip rather excessively, ensuring that Jet Falcon crossed the finish line ahead of the persistent My Way Or Highway, who made a strong challenge in the final furlong. Tortilla Chip secured the third position, while the favourite, Special Effort, failed to come into contention at any stage of the race.
