Sensational upset in Eve Champion Trophy
14-Aug-2016: There was a sensational upset in the Gr 3 Eve Champion Trophy, a terms race for four-year-olds and over, the feature event of Sunday’s Pune races. Multiple classic winner Myrtlewood who was favoured by the terms of the race was expected to have a walk in the park as she was taking on ordinary mortals but in a dramatic turn of events, the filly missed the kick, lost irretrievable ground and lost tamely.

Sentosa Cove makes it in PRA Independence Million
15-Aug-2016: B Prakash trained Sentosa Cova had a favourable draw and the luck of the race to prevail in the 2000 metres PRA Independence Million, a richly endowed event for horses rated 20 to 46, which featured the races on the Independence Day at Pune on Monday. The coveted race which offered the winner prize money of over seven lakhs had an unwieldy field in fray but Sentosa Cove found things falling in place.

Chef D’Oeuvre springs a surprise
20-Aug-2016: Ironically named Gamble For Love Trophy, a race for horses 80 and above, the feature event of Sunday’s Pune races lived up to the name when the least fancied of the lot, Chef D’Oeuvre managed to pull it off at the expense of last start winner Kandinsky in a tight finish. The small card of seven events saw a fair share of favourites coming through. Apprentice jockey D S Daman had a rewarding day, with a treble.

Desert God marches on relentlessly
24-Sep-2016: Padmanabhan trained Desert God created racing history by becoming the only four-year-old in the history of Indian racing to gross over Rs 7 crores in stakes money when he decimated the opposition in the Gr 1 Gourmet Renaissance Indian St Leger, the last Indian classic, held at Pune on Saturday. The best three-year-old in Western India Accolade towered over the opposition. The others definitely did not have the class to take on a horse of the calibre of Accolade and it was evident in the ease which the favourite smashed the opposition.
