09-Jul-2019: Jockey Akash Rajput was at his usual best on Tuesday when the Delhi-based champion guided trainer Vikash Jaiswal’s long shot Amorous White to a narrow victory in the 1,100m D. Karki Memorial Cup, the feature event. The afternoon also witnessed jockey Nikhil Naidu calling shots on trainer Vijay Singh’s fancied runners with a brace apiece, on an afternoon that remained dry in the absence of rain, will be best remembered as a day of ‘googlees’ and ‘doosras.’

Marbella claims feature on Dhanu Deora`s day
16-Jul-2019: Trainer Harvinder Bath’s four-year-old filly, Marbella (Shezad Khan-up) sent the opposition packing on her way to winning the Mariinsky Cup, the main event in Tuesday’s card. A heavy downpour, half-an-hour before the start of the day’s opener, further delayed the proceedings by about 25 minutes but it failed to stop jockey Dhanu Singh Deora, recording a treble, his first in RCTC, while saddlers Javed Khan, Vijay Singh and jockey Nikhil Naidu also notched up a brace of wins apiece.

23-Jul-2019: Trainer Vijay Singh’s Star galloper, Multitude, displayed brilliant past form on his way to recording a business-like victory in the 1,400m Harry The Horse Cup, Tuesday’s feature event. Jockey Suraj Narredu, who partnered the winner, also helped the trainer notch-up a priced treble through Adhira and Sniper. The afternoon’s seven-event card also witnessed trainer Arti Doctor scoring a brace of wins with Mr Fogg’s and Eastside.

Kantai upsets Jaivant`s applecart
30-Jul-2019: Trainer Bharath Singh’s four-year-old filly, Kantai (Dashrath Singh-up) upstaged brother’s, Vijay’s, Classic hope, Jaivant (Nikhil Naidu), in the 1,400m Great Tribute Cup, the main attraction in Tuesday’s six-event card. However, Naidu helped Vijay saddle two other public-choices – Valeria and Diamond Harbour – to victory while another of their front line Classic filly Aashna proved no match for trainer Javed Khan’s much improved mare, Malana, in a race for horses in the upper classes.

Eastern Star wins feature on Aashay Doctor`s day
06-Aug-2019: Trainer Bharath Singh’s course favourite, Eastern Star (Dashrath Singh-up), scored a decisive victory in the 1,400m Make My Day Cup, Tuesday’s feature event. The trainer-jockey team was, however, left heart-broken, after their Classic aspirant, Rosina, failed to deliver the goods in the 1,400m Nero Handicap, thanks to the inspired performance of trainer Aashay Doctor’s Izzy, also a Classic hope, ridden by the visiting jockey Dhanu Deora. Aashay finished the day with a priced treble.

Adhira strikes stressful win on Vijay Singh`s day
20-Aug-2019: Trainer Vijay Singh’s filly Adhira (Nikhil Naidu-up) scored a decisive victory over the Aashay Doctor’s colt, Atom (Arshad Alam), on her way to lifting the 1,100m Calcutta Juvenile Sprint, Tuesday’s main attraction in the seven-event card. The afternoon also witnessed Vijay’s Mighty galloper, Multitude (Suraj Narredu), putting in a strong gallop in the home straight to claim the 1,200m Calcutta Monsoon Sprint. Early in the card, Vijay had saddled another of his filly, Marigold (C. S. Jodha), to victory in the 1,100m Thrifty Allan Handicap.

Hartnell finally finds his galloping shoes

It was after months of frustration that the horses found the target but it was a close call for the five-year-old horse.

Zervan) who was, again, no match for the winner.

Trevor Patel partnered the Phoenix Tower son to a shade under three-length victory over Trafalgar, the 18/10 firm-favourite, the local hope. The afternoon was otherwise ruled by the celebrated pair of trainer Vijay Singh and jockey Suraj Narredu who combined to notch-up a treble apiece.

Trafalgar posts a facile Derby win
29-Sep-2019: Trainer James McKeown’s prized horse, Trafalgar (A. Sandesh-up) kept his date with the 2,000m Calcutta Monsoon Derby, Sunday’s feature event. However, it was some element of luck that helped the local challenger take an easy measure of his South India rival, Tenno Sho (Y.S. Srinath), a Neil Darashah’s trained horse who had drubbed Trafalgar in the Colts Stakes about three weeks earlier ran into rough weather.

01-Oct-2019: Trainer Daniel David’s 8/1 shot, Aquitania (Akshay Kumar-up) easily won the 1.200m Fly Like The Wind Handicap, the main attraction in Tuesday’s card. The 1,400m Aerona Cup, the only Trophy event in the frame of six – for the lower Class horses – was also easily picked up by trainer Harvinder Bath’s fancied runner, Demonstrate (C. Alford). Vijay Singh, Nikhil Naidu claim championship titles
15-Oct-2019: The four-cornered blanket finish in Tuesday’s feature event, the 2,000m Monsoon Cup, brought about a logical end to the most exciting season in recent memories. Trainer Vijay Singh retaining the championship crown was, however, a foregone conclusion but the young jockey’s, Nikhil Naidu’s, emergence as a champion may have surprised many. On a positive note, it was a welcome sign in a turf centre that had, of late, been banking heavily upon the top saddle-artists from the other parts of the country.
