Exclusivenorthwind maintains the winning streak

By: Tippu Sultan   November 25 , 2018

Hilton Sequeira trained Exclusivenorthwind extended his winning streak to four when he won the 1600 metres Indian Navy Rolling Challenge Trophy, a race for horses rated 74 and above, the feature event of Sunday`s Hyderabad races. Favourite Corfe Castle gave a pathetic performance which puts a question mark on his prospects in the Guineas. His run was too bad to be true.

The odds on Corfe Castle drifted out which was a surprise because his win was considered as a clear possibility. Exclusivenorthwind who had remained unbeaten in his last three outings came in for sustained support. Longshot Found Money put up a game performance leading well into the straight before a strong effort from Exclusivenorthwind saw the fancied runner surge ahead in the closing stages of the race. Likewise ran on well to take the third place ahead of the favourite. Jockey Neeraj Rawal rode a poor race on Corfe Castle, keeping him too far behind and waiting for too long in the straight which put paid to the hopes of the favourite.

The first season sire of Poonawalla Stud Farm Leitir Mor had a winner from his first runner in Hyderabad through Vijays Singham who recorded a handsome win in ther1100 metres Medak Plate, a race for maiden two-year-olds. Vijays Singham raced a handy second behind pace-setter Mehrzad and though the favourite took the turn wide and ran green, he was too superior to the rest as he went on to win by 10 lengths over Blazer. Cover Girl was third.

Hilton Sequeira trained Nimble Mind who had recorded a runaway win in her last outing was offered at cramped odds to record an encore in the 2000 metres Mauritius Turf Club Plate, a race for horses rated 42 to 62. The front-running Raajneeti very nearly pulled off an upset as she led by lengths in the stretch. Nimble Bind who was relaxed in the rear position by jockey Nakhat Singh responded well to the urgings and managed to get the nod in the final moments of the race. Rutilant ran on to be a tame third.

Satheesh trained Moon Walker had run a forward race last time out, easily won the 1100 metres Grace Hanover Plate, a race for horses rated 26 to 46 with an aggressive start to finish tactic. The only threat that one could spot for the winner was from the stablemate Take A Bow. Favourite Supurinto was buried behind with no hope of pulling it off. Cash For Rank was once again in the money finishing third.

Arjun Anne trained Ulysses had performed well over a shorter trip and since he was asked to run over a trip of 1800 metres in the Golconda Cup, a race for horses rated 26 to 46, there was less conviction in his backers as reflected in the betting. The hot horse was Evon Von Brando who however let down badly after shooting ahead in the stretch. Jockey Kuldeep Singh had Ulysses race in the penultimate position and the three-year-old devoured ground in the straight to storm ahead with a furlong left in the race for a comprehensive win. Solo Winner got the second place ahead of Buttonwood.

Robin Reddy trained Red Bullet had recorded a runaway win last time out and that win perhaps boosted the confidence of the connections to back him with conviction in the 1100 metres Time And Place Plate, a race for horses rated up to 30. Red Bullet hit the front in earnest, but he could not break free as Ispahan was shadowing the front-runner all the time. Red Bullet shot his bolt in the final furlong and faded out of the reckoning. Ispahan shaped like a winner as she led till the closing moments of the race. Long shot Golden Aliza found wings as it were and came home with a big effort which saw him nail the front-runner on the post. Golden Aliza thus broke the maidens rank in his 17th start. Patron Saint saved place money.
