Aquitania triumphs on Javed Khan ruled day

By: Goldie Boy   October 1 , 2019

Trainer Daniel David`s 8/1 shot, Aquitania (Akshay Kumar-up) easily won the 1.200m Fly Like The Wind Handicap, the main attraction in Tuesday`s card. The 1,400m Aerona Cup, the only Trophy event in the frame of six – for the lower Class horses – was also easily picked up by trainer Harvinder Bath`s fancied runner, Demonstrate (C. Alford). The afternoon otherwise belonged to Javed Khan who scored a priced treble through Rush For Gold, Stelvio Pass and Coup De Grace.

Jockey Akshay Kumar is, presently the market leader, bracketed with the likes of Surajs, Sandeshs and Trevors. His runaway tactics on Aquitania ensured half the battle was won. Therefore, it hardly came as a surprise when the six-year-old mare put in a daylight between herself and a quietly fancied Bharath`s runner, Reincarnation (app Sujit Paswan), and the 3/1 course-favourite, Aashna (Nikhil Naidu) – a Vijay Singh-trained filly. In the same race, Javed Khan`s Lumos (C.S. Jodha) placed a belaboured fourth.

However, Javed`s day had started early in the afternoon when his speedy charge, Rush For Gold (Imran Chisty) made every post of the 1,100m Espoir Plate a winning one. The winner, who went to the start as a 3/1 joint-favourite, with his stable-mate, Incendio (Jodha), just about managed to spare half-a-length to Incendio at the wire. In real sense, it was not a case of ‘doosra` as the two favourites tried in earnest to win the race but the early three-length lead established by Rush For Gold helped his cause.

Half-an-hour later, Javed`s another speedster, Stelvio Pass (Jodha), was also in the winners` enclosure, having recorded a pill-to-post easy win over a late finishing Vikash Jaiswal`s fancied runner, Montecasino (Aakash Rajput), in the 1,100 Golden Praise Handicap.

Coup De Grace (Jodha) provided the Javed`s stable with an easy victory in the 1,200m Hokaido Handicap. The ideally handicapped horse badly needed his last run but Jodha` waiting tactics on the

Speedy runner, bore the fruit. The jockey waited with the 9/2 chance in the mid-division, and was also having to shift the course to avoid running into the weakening leaders like Bergomat, Shohin and Stellanova. In fact, it was Manvendra Singh`s Nelsons Blood who was brought with a late run by Mudassar Nazar, placed second.

Bath`s Demonstrate scored a back-to-back win to claim the 1,400m Aerona Cup in a race that also witnessed Jaiswal`s fancied runner, Dil Mange More (Akash) nearly bring down the fancied runners, having alarmingly shifted towards the outer rails in the final furlong.

Vijay also managed to put together a winner, a priced one, when his ideally, handicapped runner, Devotion (Hindu Singh) lifted the opener, the 2,000m Bountiful Handicap to keep the MAM`s colours – ‘Gold-brown belt` flying – right from the start of the race.
