Misschevious Trot proves superior

By: True Blue   April 3 , 2010

The chestnut filly Harmonica found Misschevious Trot a hard nut to crack in the Topmost Trophy, the feature event of Saturday`s races, as the latter ridden by the in form 5kg claimer P. Trevor bulldozed his way to victory in the final stages of the mile trip. Harmonica travelled comfortably behind Prince Lochinva till the last two furlongs where the Imran Chisty ridden filly swooped down on the leader and hit the front. But Misschevious Trot, who was making gradual progress at every pole, joined the issue with favourite. Harmonica failed to find the acceleration and even wavered a bit before Trevor pressed home the advantage. Solor finished a faraway third followed by Prince Lochinva and Taanush.

Imran, however, had driven out the on-money favourite Sunlight (China Visit – Romantic Liaison) in the nine-furlong race for maiden juveniles at the start of the day. The C. D. Katrak trained Sunlight met stiff resistance from Dante Rossetti, who led from the word go and refused to cave in till the last 100m.

MIsschevious Trot (Trevor Patel up) winner of the Topmost Trophy, being led in by trainer Mr.Imtiaz A Sait
Saeed Shah trained Bolero (Tirol – Cozumel ) ran true to form and was confidently driven by Y. S. Srinath when warding off his challengers Splendid Secret and Vacheron. Earlier Bolero chased Zenyatta till the final 400mts where Srinath pressed the accelerator and assumed command. Splendid Secret got hemmed up towards the rails and lost precious ground while Imran Chisty switched lanes. Zenyatta may win a sprint race towards the end of the season or certainly when the Pune season resumes.

Snow Queen (Steinbeck – Ithica) was tuned to the moment by Sandeep Mangalorkar and the filly outclassed her rivals in the P. A. D`Avione Trophy. Satsuma Star tried to set her own pace but faded out fast in the straight White Knight and Visionaire tried to enter the scene. But C. Rajendra had timed his challenge to perfection astride Snow Queen and the filly produce a lightning run to snub White Knight and Visionaire. The latter lost the third berth to Arbudh, who galloped well towards the end.

Pesi Shroff trained filly De Nada (Razeen – Ocean Sunset) entered the winner`s enclosure finally and did that in taking style. She was ridden off the pace by B. Prakash in the early stages of the seven-furlong trip as Whispering Willows, who is clearly on a weight-reducing mission, showed the way to the field. She passed on the baton to her stable-mate Forward Charge who flattered briefly and then succumbed to the onslaught of De Nada. Caramel ended up in the money ahead of Tyumen .

Highland Music (Greensmith – Starstruck Actress) made it two in a row in quick succession as the Hormuz Antia trained and S. P. Ranjane ridden gelding made every post a winning one. Hot-favourite Lakhadema raised some hopes for her supporters when piercing through the gap offered by Soophie but that was it. She didn`t show any inclination to put her best foot forward and Neeraj Rawal was less enterprising in the saddle for sure. Highland Vision ran an unwanted third with Sepia Tone and Soophie in close tow.

Tehrani (Flitch – Share The Spirit), though long in tooth, defied the handicapper and fetched himself the second victory of the season. The Asad Siddiqui trained gelding improved with every stride and wore down River Tern, who had been given the charge by Gypsy Queen. Medtias Pride was in the vanguard throughout but could contain Tehrani yet finished narrowly ahead of River Tern and Wells Fargo.

Magansingh Jodha saddled Grey Island (Hymn – White Whisper) came with a fine burst in the closing stages of the six-furlong trip to overwhelm Ballad of Glory, Gimme Hope and Houdini. Kimaya surprisingly didn`t figure either in the fray or the judge`s frame.
