Shivansh scores a thumping win

By: Goldie Boy   August 28 , 2018

Trainer Vijay Singh`s frontline Classics contender, Shivansh (Neeraj Rawal-up), simply out-classed the opposition to claim the 1,600m Bountiful Talent Handicap, Tuesday`s main attraction. The handsome victory of the 13/20 hot public-property, also makes him a firm favourite for the next month`s Colts Stakes. The afternoon also witnessed Vijay notching up another treble. Significantly, the day`s eight-event card was dominated by five three-year-olds.

Shivansh`s victory was on the cards and the Top Class-Immortal son had amply indicated in his last win over an identical distance. The victory of the colt in the higher up category also put a stamp of class on his performance to silence the Doubting Thomas`s about his Classic credentials.

Shivansh made his own running and drew away from the field in the final straight to put about seven lengths between himself and the rest.

Vijay`s Fantasia (app. Nikhil Naidu) won the 1,600m Accuser Handicap. It was a back-to-back victory for the Midtnight Interlude son who was ridden in a copybook manner by the apprentice to say goodbye to his allowance days.

Vijay`s three-year-old filly was the other one to have scored a back-to-back win to claim the 1,600m Moon Mission Plate, having won a sprint early in the season. The small-made filly has a lion`s heart as she fought out gamely with the stable`s colt, Vrishank (P. Vikram) for half-a-length victory.

The other three-year old colt who scored an impressive victory was the southern visitor, Mangolian King (Trevor Patel) -- a 12/10 favourite from trainer Neil Dash`s stable. Although, the Phoenix Tower-Takeortwo son won the 1,100m Picture Perfect Handicap with an equal measure, the extended trip is within his compass.

Mangolian King was, however, held back fourth till the final turn but once put into motion, there was not stopping of the Classic aspirant. He beat the other southern, but older, counterpart, Emperador (Afzal Khan) as the rest in the field were mere passengers.

Finally, it was left to the Bharath Singh`s pair of youngsters, Bojangles (Dashrath Singh) and Bergomat (Trevor) to end the drought of winners in the stable. Dashrath, on Bojangles, had hard time battling out the front-running brigade, early in the race, combined with controlling the shifting out colt, in the upper division of the Aladancer Handicap. However, the jockey never lost heart as he kept belting the 9/2 chance till the last stride to beat Aashay Doctor`s late finishing All Rounder.

Bergamot, the 2/1 favourite, on the other hand, had it easy in the lower division of the Aladancer Handicap. Trevor took the horse to the front and made trainer James McKeown`s Novikov (C. Alford) follow in a wild goose chase.

Trainer Vikash Jaiswal`s Jordana (P.S. Chauhan) decided to put his best foot forward after about dozen of disappointing runs. The six-year-old was taken to a start to finish mission in the 1,400m Elusive Study Cup, and she never looked back, winning the race by five long lengths from Prince Of Hearts (Hindu Singh).

The afternoon started with Hindu partnering trainer Patrick Quinn`s 5/1 chance, Aquaticaa, to an easy victory in the 2,000m Bold Raider Handicap in which trainer Jasbir Singh`s Cool Conqueror (Rajendra Singh) attracted pots of money.
