Do you agree that Turf Authorities of India must step up their marketing game to attract a younger crowd. Right now, the sport is mostly backed by an ageing audience, which isn’t sustainable long-term?

Thalassa records a commanding victory
Thalassa records a commanding victory Faisal Abbas-trained Thalassa proved that her impressive Indian Derby run was no fluke, clinching the 2000 metres Western India Race Horse Owners’ Association Trophy—a race for horses rated 60 to 86—with an air of authority at Sunday’s Mumbai races. Jockey Sandesh, currently embroiled in a neck-and-neck battle for the jockeys` championship with Trevor Patel rode the winner. The latter leads by a solitary point with two day’s racing remaining.

A witty, unflinching look at racing’s dark side
I just finished Murder at the Race Course, and I must say that the author, Berjis Desai, has done a remarkable job of peeling back the carefully curated illusion of horse racing to reveal its seedy underbelly—crooked characters, shadowy dealings, and all. While the author has politely labelled this a work of fiction, anyone remotely familiar with the sport will recognize some of the “fictional” faces lurking in these pages. Of course, a few creative liberties have been taken, but let’s not kid ourselves—reality often outdoes imagination when it comes to racing’s rogues’ gallery.
Will Logic Prevail or Will Egos Sink Racing?
The final day of the 2025 Madras Race Club season trotted to a close on Sunday-though "final" might be the operative word here. The government, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that horse racing is far less important than, say, a few extra flower beds, terminating the club`s lease and handing over the premises to the Horticulture Department. In the meanwhile, the BTC members are voting on resolutions in the Special General Body Meeting on Monday which will have a crucial bearing on the future of racing in Bangalore.
